Footwear

When buying a pair of shoes you should think about what you can wear with them with: will those loafers look good with a pair of jeans? A sports coat? A t-shirt and shorts?

When wearing a black, grey or navy suit then black shoes. When wearing a blue blazer the shoes should depend on the trousers being worn. For example, grey trousers then black shoes, taupe or brown tones - brown shoes. If you are wearing a taupe or brown suit then tan to oxblood shoes should be worn.

When picking shoes, the things to consider are fit, versatility and structure. Shoes should be firm when first tried on and not tight. It's always better to try on shoes at the benning of the day instead of the end of the day. The same goes for trying on shoes on holiday, as your feet may swell in a hot environment and shrink in a cold one

Most importantly, the shoes, belt and manbag should always be the same colour. If you are wearing a checked or striped sports coat then the trousers should be matching to the jacket and the shoes to the to the trousers. Should you be wearing jeans then smart loafers, leather toe thongs or thongs are appropriate depending on the event.

Where possible - leather all the way. We are on our feet all day every day, so spend the bit extra.
